01The challenge

The challenge

Ampans, a foundation dedicated to the inclusion of people with disabilities, needed a large-scale WordPress portal to manage multiple areas: social services, employment programs, special employment center, residences and activities. The site had to be a model of digital accessibility, facilitate online donations and be maintainable by a diverse editorial team.

02The solution

The solution

We developed a WordPress ecosystem with complex content architecture: custom post types for programs, services, news and events, cross-cutting taxonomies and advanced search. We implemented WCAG 2.1 level AA with keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, high contrast mode and scalable text. The donation system is accessible and streamlined. We trained over 15 editors to maintain the standards.

03Architecture

How a request flows

  1. An editor from one of the portal's areas (social services, employment, residences, activities) publishes content with Gutenberg blocks and ACF Pro custom fields

  2. The site serves the page with keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, a high-contrast mode and scalable text in line with WCAG 2.1 AA

  3. A visitor who wants to donate accesses the simplified, accessible donation system, which processes payment with Stripe

  4. axe DevTools periodically audits the pages to verify that WCAG 2.1 AA compliance is maintained after each publication

  5. The advanced search and cross-cutting taxonomies make it possible to find content across the portal's different areas without losing the foundation's hierarchy
