01The challenge
The challenge
Fleurop manages an e-commerce with extreme demand peaks on key dates (Valentine's Day, Mother's Day) and a highly sensitive operation where delivery depends on specific zones and time windows. The tolerance for checkout failures is zero. The integration with their proprietary ERP (catalog, availability, orders, statuses) carried a risk of inconsistencies, especially during high-demand campaigns.
02The solution
The solution
We applied comprehensive Magento hardening: performance optimization on listing and product pages, checkout stability, granular cache control and protection against traffic spikes. We implemented dedicated monitoring for critical dates. For the ERP integration, we designed asynchronous processes where appropriate, synchronization audits, a retry system, meaningful logs for debugging, and QA focused on real-world scenarios such as holidays and zone restrictions.
Tech stack
How it's built
Engine
- Magento 2 E-commerce platform
- PHP Back-end language
- RabbitMQ Message queues
Data
- MySQL Database
- Redis In-memory cache
- Varnish HTTP cache
- Elasticsearch Search engine
03Architecture
How a request flows
-
An order is confirmed at Magento's checkout, hardened to withstand traffic spikes on dates like Valentine's Day or Mother's Day
-
The order is queued asynchronously with RabbitMQ to sync with Fleurop's own ERP without blocking the response to the customer
-
The sync process queries catalog, availability and order status in the ERP, with automatic retries if the connection fails
-
Varnish and Redis serve listing and product pages from cache to keep load times low even during peak demand
-
A monitoring system dedicated to critical dates watches the integration and triggers alerts if it detects inconsistencies in the sync
04Measured impact
Results
- +14% Checkout conversion (peaks)
- -22% Cart abandonment
- -33% PDP load time
- +11% YoY campaign revenue

Metrics in detail
- Years of ongoing collaboration (2023-2026)
- 3+
- Specialists on the project team
- 5
- Extreme-peak seasonal campaigns covered (Valentine's Day, Mother's Day)
- 2
- Infrastructure pieces to withstand campaign peaks (Varnish, Redis, RabbitMQ queue)
- 3
Methodology: Project scope data: duration and team come from the collaboration contract (2023-2026); the campaigns covered and the infrastructure, from the e-commerce operation. The conversion, cart abandonment and revenue metrics are in the results section of this case study.
